The roundup took weeks of planning and coordinating,addresses and residencies checked and doubled check,manpower schedules cleared and traded.In all over eighty people would be paid thousands of hours of high priced labour to orchestrate the roundup,an event that would take only three hours to bring to fruit.Perhaps I will turn things over to the local media to explain a bit better-my commentary will follow this:

Undercover police in Saskatoon believe they have cracked a drug ring in the city.
The Saskatoon Integrated Drug Unit has charged 15 people with 51 offences ranging from possession of drugs to drug trafficking, according to a police news release.
All 15 people were arrested on Thursday and will appear in court on Tuesday. They remain in custody. Warrants have been issued for 12 more people on 22 additional charges.
"During the course of their undercover investigation, officers purchased the following substances: cannabis, marijuana, cocaine, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, morphine, Ritalin and Dilaudid," said the release.
Saskatoon police and RCMP worked with the federal justice department over 16 months in three separate investigations, which are continuing.

If you are at all familiar with this type of press release you may make note of one major difference between this and other drug busts.Take note that NO drugs were seized-no cash,no weapons-nothing to indicate that this was an active "drug ring"
Add to that the fact that none of the fifteen have any criminal connection to each other and the story really falls apart.As for my part I stand accused of three counts of trafficking in marijuana,the charges stemming from Feb-March of 2005.It was easy for me to remember the incidents that lead to these charges-as only once in the last two years have I had anything to do with drugs or people involved with them.More on the way I was set-up later.

One of the "suspects"of this so called drug ring was arrested for having in his possession 180 Ritalin tablets.What the police failed to note was that the pills were in a prescription bottle-addressed to the suspect!He had just left the pharmacy and was stopped when he asked for directions at a red light.(he asked the driver in the car next to him-who was being followed by police in a vain attempt to see him sell drugs(he had none)
That case was thrown out and the judge severely reprimanded police-that story will never make the news.
My lawyer feels that I should be cleared on the grounds that I did not receive speedy justice-that the police held those charges for two years in the hope that they could use them as a lever against me when the made a real drug bust on me-but since I am clean now they just added me to the pot-threatened me with penitentiary time(over two years-in fact they said they will be asking five years-but if I wore a wire and made some major buys for them all charges would be dropped.
I am sure all 15 of us were offered the same deal(money is great-they pay you 1/3 of what you buy or caused to have seized-I could easily retire in a week!) I can only hope that no one took them up on their offer.Don't take me wrong-I do believe the police force is necessary and that cracking down on drug dealing is a benefit to society(though I have doubts about some of the penalties-more on that later) but I think we are moving to far to the right in our paid informants programs.Shades of Stasi(East German Secret Police before the fall-they were famous for paying people to spy on their neighbours).

Florida's execution process faces death knell- By Alan Gomez

TALLAHASSEE The way Florida administers the death penalty is fast becoming a national question after the U.S. Supreme Court halted two executions in recent weeks because of concerns over the state's use oflethal injection.The high court is considering whether two Florida killers have the right to challenge their death sentences on civil rights grounds based partly on a recent study that indicates lethal injections may cause more pain than previously thought, possibly violating the constitutional ban on cruel and unusual punishment.But the question in Washington, D.C., is only part of the possible trouble facing Florida's death sentence,as the Florida Supreme Court suggested in a recent decision that legislators review the state's process because it may violate federal law.

Florida is the only state in the country that does not require a unanimous jury verdict to determine at least one of the following two matters: whether a case qualifies for the death penalty or in the final vote on whether the death penalty should be ordered.Ultimately, the judge in each situation has the final say in Florida; the jury only makes a recommendation.
"Florida's all alone out here. That's something that usually gets the (U.S.) Supreme Court's attention,"said Richard Dieter, executive director of the Death Penalty Information Center. "Sometimes you want to preempt that and change your own law before theSupreme Court steps in and you have no law."

Gov. Jeb Bush said the U.S. Supreme Court decision to stay the two recent executions probably will halt all executions in Florida until the justices make a final decision, which could come as early as April.That case addresses only the procedural question of whether Death Row inmates can get a hearing to determine whether Florida's lethal injection mixture is humane. If the Supreme Court rules that Death Row inmates have a right to such a hearing, a federal judge would have to hear a case on whether Florida's injection is cruel or inhumane.

Bush defended Florida's system last week and said the problem was that lawyers and the courts had skewed the situation in favor of Death Row inmates to allow them to drag out their appeals processes for years."The advocates of abolishing the death penalty are winning without any discussion by elected officials inthe legislature," said Bush, a death penalty proponent. "I think it's wrong."

The Florida Legislature soon will hear plenty of debate about the death penalty, as committees have begun fielding testimony about bills that would require a unanimous jury verdict to impose it. Thebills are bipartisan: A Democrat is sponsoring the House version and a Republican filed the identical Senate version.Bush and House Speaker Allan Bense, R-Panama City,have voiced their apprehension about tinkering with Florida's death penalty laws.
"These are juries of our peers, hand-selected by boththe prosecutor and the defense," Bense said. "If youhave a majority that want the death penalty, then it should stay."But Senate President Tom Lee, R-Brandon, isn't so sure.Lee was at the Florida State Prison Jan. 25 when Clarence Hill was supposed to be executed. Hill, who shot and killed a Pensacola police officer in 1982,was the first man the U.S. Supreme Court recently granted a stay. On Tuesday, the high court did the same for Arthur Rutherford, a Panhandle man convictedof killing a Milton woman in 1985, on the same grounds.

Lee went to Starke to witness Hill's execution because he understands that the Florida Supreme Court was sending a clear message to the legislature and he wanted to learn about a subject he realized would be key during the upcoming session, said his spokeswoman,Kathy Mears.
"It is important to open up the dialogue and debate this issue given the pronouncement by the Supreme Court justices coupled with his (Lee's) desire to ensure that the death penalty remains a policy in Florida," Mears said.Death penalty laws have undergone many changes as cultural norms have evolved over the years, with theU.S. Supreme Court prompting many of those changes.
Aggravating factors issue-They have ruled the execution of minors and mentally retarded people unconstitutional but also changed the way the death penalty is imposed with a lesser-known case in 2002.In Ring vs. Arizona, the high court found that juries,not judges, must make certain factual determinations before imposing a death sentence. Those are referredto as aggravating factors, heightened criteria a crime must fall into after a defendant is found guilty of the crime, but before being considered for the death penalty.
In Ring vs. Arizona, the jury found the defendant guilty, but the judge alone imposed a death sentence.It was unclear at the time whether that ruling affected four states, including Florida, that use also-called "hybrid" sentencing system. In those systems, a judge makes the ultimate decision on life or death, but does so with a recommendation from the jury on the aggravating factors and the decision between life and death.

Since Ring, three of the states have changed their systems, according to a Florida Senate staff analysis.Alabama and Indiana juries must find aggravating factors unanimously before a death sentence can be imposed, and Delaware placed the entire decision-making process in the hands of the juries.
"We're the only ones who didn't change our system as a result of Ring," said D. Todd Doss, a Lake City attorney who represents Hill and is handling another dozen death penalty cases.The Florida Supreme Court, in a strongly worded October opinion, indicated that the legislature should reconsider the hybrid system because it may be inviolation of Ring and other similar opinions from theU.S. Supreme Court."The bottom line is that Florida is now the only state in the country that allows the death penalty to be imposed even though the penalty-phase jury may determine by a mere majority vote both whether aggravators exist and whether to recommend the death penalty," wrote Justice Raoul Cantero, a Bushappointee, in his majority opinion.But changing to a unanimous jury verdict has become avery divided debate.Last month, a line of state attorneys from around Florida spoke before the House Justice Council to warn them of the possible implications of a unanimous requirement.
"I think this would be the death blow to the deathpenalty in Florida, when one juror would have the ability to stop the death penalty from being imposed,"Tallahassee State Attorney Willie Meggs said.The prosecutors listed about a dozen murderers who did not receive a unanimous jury recommendation for death,including Ted Bundy and Aileen Wuornos.Jerry Blair, state attorney for a seven-countydistrict between Tallahassee and Jacksonville, said,"If the legislature accepts the invitation of theFlorida Supreme Court and tampers with Florida's death penalty statute, my fear is that we are going to open a Pandora's box that will ensure that our death penalty statute will continue to be litigated andre-litigated on constitutional issues and the death penalty in Florida will become even more of a hollow threat than it is at the current time.
"But others said the prosecutors are being misleading.In Florida death penalty cases, juries make one vote and report that back to the judge, said Larry Spaldingof the ACLU of Florida. But in states where unanimousverdicts are required, the jurors continue voting until they reach a consensus, just as they do when deliberating about guilt or innocence.Because of that change, Spalding said a unanimousverdict requirement would in no way end the deathpenalty in Florida.
"If that was true, we wouldn't see any death sentences coming out of Texas where an unanimous jury is required,"
Spalding said. "We wouldn't see any death sentencescoming out of California, out of Virginia, out ofGeorgia, where unanimous juries are required."Slow appeal process-Prosecutors also said tinkering with the death penalty law would further slow down the appeal process, which already takes years to resolve. All death sentencecases are appealed automatically to the Florida Supreme Court and prosecutors said changing the laws now would complicate the entire process.But Michael Radelet, a professor and chairman of the sociology department at the University of Colorado,said the opposite would be true.Radelet studied Florida's death penalty system as aUniversity of Florida professor for two decades and said much of the reason for the delays in appeals is because people can be sent to death with a 7-5, 8-4 or9-5 vote. In those cases, Death Row inmates can offerstrong appeals, arguing that only one or two votescould have swayed the decision.In fact, Radelet said judges have ordered death sentences 60 times in the past 30 years, despite a jury's recommendation for a life sentence. The Florida Supreme Court overturned most of the cases, but four inmates were executed.Those weaker execution cases serve as the "sand in the executioner's gas tank," a lag in the system that would disappear if all cases were unanimous, Radeletsaid."What is keeping those people alive who had unanimousjury recommendations for death is that the court has to spend an equal amount of time on cases where there were only seven or eight or nine votes for death," he said.
"So what happens, in a funny sort of way, isthat if we wanted more executions, we'd be sentencing fewer people to death."Rep. Jack Seiler, D-Wilton Manors and the House sponsor of the bill, concedes that fewer people would be sentenced to death under a system that required aunanimous verdict.
But Seiler, a death penalty proponent like Senatesponsor Sen. Alex Villalobos, R-Miami, would prefer that system if it meant that those who are ordered to death are sent through a proper, constitutional system.
"Why are we the only state like this?" Seiler said."Does that mean that maybe we're not constitutionally sound? I don't know. But I don't want further doubt inthe area of capital punishment. I don't want capital punishment tossed out or abolished in Florida because we're not doing things correctly. That's why we're doing this.

"The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers".Spoken by Dick the Butcher in Henry VI part 2 by William Shakespeare (I was getting tired of explaining to the uneducated) This article as been published,without any real successful feedback many months ago.I am bringing it to the forefront as I feel this forum as merit and now that I have gained something of an audience(keep those cards and letters coming! I really enjoyed both of them lol) I am hoping that I will get some of YOUR experiences to publish

As much as we might say we hate them,and as much as we might claim that justice is equal to all,we must give credit where credit is due.
Anybody that thinks all men are equal in the eyes of the law never watched the O.J trail!As much as some might complain of that verdict and say that it was tricks by high priced lawyers that acquitted a guilty man,I will still say"better a thousand guilty go free,rather then one innocent be imprisoned ( or worse).

The difference the right lawyer can make is at time simply incredible,other times Johnny Cochran could not have got you off a parking ticket.
I will share a little lawyer story,but it is YOURS that I want to hear.

MY LAWYER STORY by H.Douglas Forbes

I was once in court on drug related charges,and the prosecutor was making the case that I must be very highly placed in organized crime(I wished) since the grade of pot that they had seized had twice the usually amount of THC(Tetrahydrocannabinol; a compound that is obtained from cannabis or is made synthetically; it is the primary intoxicant in marijuana and hashish,for the two of you who did not know that. ) that was normally found on the street.
His argument was that any one with pot that had a 27.5% content had to know the very best of growers,and by extension,I must therefore be associated with a internationally known motorcycle organization( I was NOT).The way he was speaking seemed at the time that it was intended to supposed to make me feel that I should be ashamed,while all the time he was narrating his closing,I was swelling with pride,and a glance at the court audience showed that most of them felt the way I did,there where lots of nods and thumbs up thrown my way.(please hold the cards and letters,I am relating how I felt at the time,not how I feel now)

Even when the prosecutor brought up the seized firearms,which where both loaded at the time of arrest(a gun that is not loaded is just a club!I was raised with firearms,no one was in danger) the crowd seem to support my contention that the weapons where for protection from other criminals,not intended as a threat to law enforcement(I would NEVER shoot a cop,I respect them,and understand them,and am way to smart to ever think that I could get away with such an atrocity)
I was also charged at the time with proceeds of crime,to wit,the cash they found in my house,in excess of $5000.00(that is a "break point" in our laws here,over is a worse charge then under) with violation of bail,and a pissy little charge of a controlled substance under 28grams (2 grams of "magic mushrooms")so all in all,I was facing some serious time,drugs with weapons is (and rightfully so ) a very dangerous combination,and in the wrong hands,something the police hate to face.In this case I actually had one of the arresting officers statements that I had disclosed the weapons to them,and that they at no time felt threatened.(heh,when your caught,your caught,I figured it was much better for me to tell the cops I had guns and where they where,rather have them accidentally shoot themselves when they found them!
Yep,I was cooked,and I thought,what kind of lawyer did I have,not once while the prosecutor was painting such a horrible picture against me,did he speak up,not until it was his turn.Here I was facing years in the penitentiary,(three was the number that was being floated around),and he sat there as if I had not a care in the world.
He explained to me afterwords,that there was no chance I would be found not quilty,and any objections he made,would just piss the judge off,better to remain silent and thought a fool,rather then speak up and remove all doubts!
I actually had a legal aid lawyer who was totally committed to keeping me out of jail.You would almost think that he was a customer of mine,the way he fought for me!
He used all his powers of persuasion,explaining the military fashion in which I was raised,thus diminishing the severity of the weapons charges,citing other cases where the person was convicted yet served no time,but rather where placed on electronic monitoring.He talked for a good fifteen minutes,without notes,and without once losing his mark.It was truly an impressive display of legal jargon.
I don't know if it was his arguments,or the fact it was two days before Christmas,but the judge gave me the choice,eighteen months of electronic monitoring(an ankle bracelet that tracks your movements and traces your location.Damn GPS!) or fourteen months of confinement!

I actually at that time asked for a day to think it over!It was a reluctant (or so he seemed) Judge that ordered me back to the Correctional,but I had some serious thinking to do,take the conditional and walk,or take the time and rot.

I took the time.
I read the conditions of release that I would have to live by and decided it wasn't for me.I knew I would violate the conditions,and end up with more charges,and since it was me,the cops would be watching closely.I still may have gone for the conditional release except for the thirteenth and final condition laid out on the order that was given to me to consider
13)"shall have no contact at any time with anyone associated with drugs."

In my world,almost everyone I knew at least had a minor possession record,and since I was under conditions,the police had the right to stop me and interrogate me as to my comings and goings,and I was afraid that by extension,I may just land a colleague or friend in jail simply because they were seen with me.I don't mean to sound like some "solid guy,to tough to care",no,there was another reason I took the time,one that I thought about at the time very carefully,but that is another story which will be told at another time.

Murder plans for January 2006

What would you do if you found detailed plans for someone to commit a murder?What if those plans gave you not only the names of the people to be murdered,but the exact time and date as well?Not to mention that these plans also included the method that was to be used to end another human beings life?
Would you immediately contact the authorities?warn the intended victims?Of course you would.But let's wait a minute here shall we.What if you found out the people that were planned to be murdered were people that you didn't like very much,would you still do everything you could to prevent their murders?Would you still rush to make that call?
You would?Good for you,glad to see that your humanity as not yet been stripped from you.What though if we took it even a little further,what if you found out the intended victims had committed crimes in their lives,and were not all that nice of people.Do you still do what you can to prevent their murder?or do you just forget all about finding that evidence and stand idly by while they are murdered?Not I,this is a Mission from God that I am on,it is at His urging that I write this,and my other works.Join with me on my crusade and:

Moratorium on death penalty in NJ passes Senate by wide margin.

Gov. In Trenton, the state Senate yesterday passed a bill that would put a hold on New Jersey's death-penalty law, which has not resulted in any executions, while a commission studied whether it deterred crime and was "consistent with evolving standards of decency."

GUNS IN THE CLASSROOM an authentic occasion

The three boys sat in the car,a four door nondescript Chevy,circa around 1970.It had local plates but the bumper stickers spoke of far away places,lakes and parks mostly,as if the great outdoors were it's preferred location,not this dusty little town in the middle of nowhere,smack in the middle of the Mid West.

There were two in the front seat,the third in the back kept turning and looking around nervously peering through first this window,then that one.An observer would have immediately picked him as the "lookout"or as the saying goes,the Six Man.Keeping six was a time honoured term,it's roots in the Air Force during WWII,where the six o'clock position is to the rear of the plane,thus "keeping six"was a metaphor for watching ones back.

The boys,on closer examination appeared to be nearer to adulthood then to boyhood,as they wore facial hair in the form of long sideburns and the third sported a mustache that Stalin himself would have been proud of.They where all smoking cigarettes,puffing furiously as if to get every last bit of soothing nicotine into themselves as was possible in the time allowed.Time seemed to be on their minds,as twice watches where checked,and at one point one of the young men said to the other's"four minutes"and with that the almost finished cigarettes where tossed out the open windows and new ones lit a fresh,all from a single wooden match the lad in the rear seat provided.He did not however light his own from the match,and with a "third light"resonating from his mouth,he tossed the offending flame un-extinguished out of the window,and producing another,sparked his own Export into the bright burning existence it was designed to be."Third light"was never taken,for if you accepted the third light,you would of course die.That may sound like a ridiculous piece of folklore,but the roots of the saying came from a time and place that it was quite possible,that if you accepted the third light you may indeed die,for that would have given the enemy snipers long enough to zero in on your position.

The boys,as despite their precocious appearance,they were boys,and not the men they so desperately longed to be,started fidgeting with the things that were laid on the floor and seats of the car.A book bag appeared,a few high-school texts and notepads,or as they were called "scribblers",lunch-kits,ball gloves and even a football.With a "Two minutes"warning from the boy in the rear,three doors sprang open,and out emerged the lads.It was now possible to discern what they were wearing,and as each was dressed more or less like the other,their appearance reminded one of the military,as they were all dressed in camouflage suits,such as one would wear if fighting in a jungle setting.Even their bearing spoke of discipline,they seemed to move in a unison not normally seen in teenagers.They were,to a man,taller then what one would normally expect high school students to be,the shortest just under six foot,the tallest four inches more.

Each reached back into the vehicle and gathered up their belongings,and with a bit of work and organizing,they manage to place all that they needed to carry into their left hands,freeing their right hand completely.

As one they turned back towards the car,and as one they all extended their right hands into the automobile,and as one,they all pulled from the interior the objects they were reaching for,as one they all pulled out rifles.Not your old bolt action 30.30's that where so common in the area,but slick new Remington 30.06's,all with telescopic scopes.The boy who had been in the back seat pulled out not just a rifle,but a Remington 12 gauge pump action shotgun as well,and despite the awkwardness of the total load,the boys,again all as one,turned and walked towards the School.

As they approached the double front doors of the school they where seen by Mr Bathgate,the Vice Principle of the school.He was a large man,more so in bearing then in statue,his broad shoulders,narrow waist and rugged good looks where a favorite with the young ladies of the school,but where looked upon somewhat fearfully by the males.In a day when physical punishment was still a strong memory in the school system he was the quintessential VP,a perfect stereotype.One look told you that he was not a man not to fool with.His face bore the scars extreme athlete,his nose spoke of someone familiar with the squared circle. And he was all that stood between the auditorium of the school and the three boys with their rifles and shotgun.

The minute he saw the heavy laden boys his pace quickened,and with three long steps he was at the doors.Hurriedly he reached for the door handles,and just a split second before the boys reached the doors with their deadly cargo he pushed open the door and held it open for the boys."hurry up,get to class"he said as the bell announcing a new school day started to ring.

Stamping their feet and wiping them on the mats the three boys proceeded into the school.Several of their classmates also saw that there arms were full,and in the manner that was the custom at the time and place,offered to help by clapping"need a hand?"was the latest juvenile fad phrase.

The boy crossed the length of the auditorium with quick long,seemingly practiced strides until they were abreast the door mark simply H12 which told them they were at the homeroom for the grade twelve,or senior class as it's known in many places.The last final BRrrinnng of the bell sounded just as they came to the closed door.The shortest of the three boys also (was that planned?) had the least to carry,holding only his lunch kit in one hand,and the deadly sleek 30.06 in the other.It was he that reached for the door,and it was he,keeping his hands free,that shoved it open with his knee.

The three burst through the door almost as one,the boy with the double dose of death,he that had both rifle and shotgun,he brought up the rear.Directly in front of them sat the teacher,and there was no teacher more disliked then this one,the reasons are not important to this narrative.From his desk chair he glance uo towards the boys as the piled into the room,and with his usual arrogant tone he half shouted"Put those damn guns on the shelve and get to your desks! And take of those dirty filthy smelly coveralls!"

What you expected something else?Violence?Shootings?Not back then,that was a different time,a different place from where most of you are from.I come from a small midwestern town,the time was in the early seventies,the school had a student poulation of roughly ninety (90).NO,not a class of ninety,ninety total.From Grade one to twelve.No kindergargen in those days.

This is a true story,one that was repeated many times at my school,and I can vouch for it all,as I was that tallest boy with both rifle and shotgun.In the years I was at school it was often the practice to get in a little hunting before school,and we would go directly from our hunting to school without stopping at home to change and put away our weapons.We used to just leave our rifles in our vehicles but gave up that practice after a theft.Some traveling salesman no doubt,no local would steal another mans weapon.It was suggested by the TEACHERS that we bring our rifle and guns into the school where they would be safe.What we were not allowed to do was smoke within one hundred feet of the school,thus the nervous glancing around in the car.

It was a time when most boys had his first rifle at age twelve or younger.I was nine when my Father presented me with my first single shot Cooey .22 rifle.That is a day I will never forget,not just because of the rifle,but for the lesson in gun safety I was taught.

Father always told us that we were to treat every gun we ever saw as a loaded weapon,and with the safety off.He repeated that to me again that day,as he lead me down the lane to where he had set some tin cans set up with a hill in the background,to insure that no missed bullet would travel more then a foot to dig harmlessly into the ground.He showed me how to load the rifle,explained how to site the target,to let the gun go off,not by jerking the trigger,but by easy slow pressure.He explained how I should breath,and when he was all done I saw him slip a shell into the breach and close the bolt on it."Here,shoot" he said.

I can not begin to tell you how excited I was,and with all his good advise on how to aim and to breath,I sited at the target,and slooowly squeezed the trigger.BANG! went his fist against my ear.I found my self flat on the ground,my ears ringing,my head throbbing with pain.I have been partially deaf in that ear ever sense,totally deaf in it now thanks to several more beatings and boxing rounds.I may have lost some hearing,but I have never again assumed that a gun was loaded when it was not.You see,he had palmed that shell,not put it in the rifle.It was my responsibility to check before trying to fire.

If everyone was taught gun safety the way I was taught,there would not be school shootings.It all comes down to the parents,I do not care what anyone else says,if you respect something you do not abuse it.I was taught at an early age to respect guns and rifles,and knew the difference! "This is My Rifle, this is my gun..."

If we are going to allow guns in our society,and it is certainly to late to try and disarm the populous,then I feel that gun safety should be taught in the schools,and it should be taught by ex-drill sergeants like my father.Perhaps the days of corporal punishment in schools are thing of the past,but some strong discipline never harmed a child when it is done with the childs welfare always uppermost in mind.My father hit me on other occasions which I resented him for,but that occasion I have always viewed as an act of love.Call me twisted,but I loved my father that day,not only did he give me the gift of my dreams,but he showed me how much he cared.He hit be out of love,and I knew it.So concerned was he with my safety,he went against his own moral code to instill in me a lesson I would not forget,and it was a lesson that as saved my life on at least one occasion.

My last posting here was on the death penalty and I was called a liberal.Those people never read the whole piece,just commented off of the headlines.I proposed then that jurours should be made to carry out the executions they vote for,and now I am advocating bring guns to schools! and they call me a liberal? I expect to get a lot of flack for this one!I do however think that we should teach gun handling in the schools.Some will not even read this part,they will only comment on the headline below.I place it as a test,lets see who bites shall we?

GUNS DO NOT KILL PEOPLE! PEOPLE KILL PEOPLE! NRA forever!

The Death of Innocents
I will freely admit,there are people out there that are better of dead,and if it came to be that it was up to me to pull the trigger,push the plunger,open the chute,drop the blade,toss the torch,throw the switch or cast the first stone,I would have no trouble doing it.
Clifford Olsen,Ted Bundy,Charles Ng,Ted List or any of about 50 that any Google search of Serial Killers would reveal are prime candidates for the death penalty,and and in fact some have already met their fate at the hands of the public.However,I also think that death is too easy of a punishment for these monsters.Since,and rightly so, we are no longer a society that condones the use of torture as a part of sentencing,and that we do in fact go to all lengths to protect our prisoners from any form of abuse(we fail miserably in most cases) the worst punishment we can give anyone is total lock-down in a solitary setting.For most this would be a deplorable condition to live in,for others,such as myself,it would be considered preferable to any other living arrangement,of the choices in prison that is.
I have died before,it's easy to die,I think we should make them live in confinement,the only visitors allowed would be friends and family of the victims,so they could taunt them unmercifully,record them to play back over and over.Paint the photo's from the crime scene on the walls and celings of their cells,let them live with what they have done until they are finally sent to Hell!
I sometimes get carried away don't I?My proposal is not meant to be taken seriously,just venting.
As much as I detest what some of these monsters have done,and no matter how much I feel they deserve to die.....

THE DEATH PENALTY MUST BE ABOLISHED!

What?Did you not just say that you would have no problem executing people like Ted Bundy or Clifford Olsen? (Olsen is Canada's most infamous child killers)
Yep,I would gladly make them die,I would do it slow,their screams would mean nothing to me as I sent them on their road to Hell!
Then why no death penalty?
Lets throw a few other names into the mix shall we?
Hurricane Carter,Guy Paul Morin and Canada's most famous David Milgard.Then there is Joe Amrine,Ryan Matthews,and Harold Wilson,the very last to join this list.
What do this names have in common?They were all convicted of murder,and if the crime they were accused of had taken place at a different time or location,they would now be dead,MURDERED by society,as they all had their convictions overturned,as they were all INNOCENT!
Another Death Row Inmate Found Innocent
DNA has freed another inmate on death row--this time in Louisiana. Ryan Matthews was sentenced to death as a teenager. After seven years, his claims of innocence have been confirmed.He was the one hundred and fifteenth.
Harold Wilson,the last to exonerated was done so only lst month,Nov 15th/2005

These are far from being isolated cases.Since 1973 there has been in the United States alone 122 that is one hundred and twenty two! Also since 1973 there have been just over 6000,that is six thousand people sentenced to death,and since a MINIMUM of 122 are innoncent that means just over 2% of those sentenced to death where innocent.Just two percent,that's not bad odds is it?
In the 25 years from 1973 to 1998, there were an average of 2.96 Exonerations per year. In the five years since 1998, thru 2003, that average has risen to 7.60 Exonerations.There were 6 exonerations in 2004.

Florida as the dubious honour of leading all other states in exoneration's with twenty one.Is this a reflection on the honesty of their judicial system?or a sign of it's corruption?What I find particularly troublesome is Texas,which by far as the highest number on death row,but yet even Illionios as more exonerations.I find it highly doubtful that their juducial system is that much more efficent at finding the innocent.I think instead it is that much more libel to refuse to hear evidence of innocents.
To date there have been one thousand and three executions in the United States since the return of the death penalty.We have already established that two percent of all convictions were done so in error,does it not also stand to reason that two percent of those executed where innocent?Alright,lets give the DA office a little more credit,lets say only one percent were innocent,thats not so bad is it?That means we(as in society) have only murdered ten people in the United States under the death penalty.Not bad at all,right?
No way you say,can't be true,the very fact that some were freed means that the system ultimately worked,right?
There are some very troublesome cases where there as been new evidence or evidence that the courts refused to hear.Executed But Possibly Innocent is a web-page from the Death Penalty information Center.I also challenge any doubters to readThe Death of Innocents by Sister Helen Prejean,of Dead Man walking fame
Take at look at the list of executions and the notes attached in this graph from the Death Penalty Information Center .If after examining all of that evidence you still believe that no innocent as ever been executed(I am talking only recent history,since 1973) well then,I have a bridge that you might be interested in.

The one thing that makes a democracy sacred is the idea of equality for all.It is not,as some would have you think,a system where the majority always gets their way,it is a system where even the tiniest MINORITY is offered the same protections and rights as the majority.
If you could show me a law proposal that was equal and fair for EVERY member of society,and this law was to provide a basis for the death in some cases but not others,I would vote for it.However this is not possible,there would always be an inequality some where for someone at some time.

NO PROSECUTOR OR POLICE OFFICER WOULD ELICIT FALSE TESTIMONY! ha ha ha ha haaahaahhqahhhqahha oooohhheyy! sorry,I just couldn't stop laughing! and lol just didn't cover it
I can,from very personal experience,refute that statement all to Hell,I have been one more then one occasion been offered deals if I would only ...bla blah.
The very nature of their work(law officials) makes it essential for them to appear faultless and without prejudice.In order to perpetuate this myth of infallibility,there have been many a DOCUMENTED case of cover ups,"losing",or the out right withholding of vital defense evidence.
Witnesses who had recanted their testimony,thus clearing a suspect,suddenly find them selves the victim of a sting,(where there is crime,you will have criminals as witnesses) and suddenly facing a new string of charges they once again change their stories.If there is one thing that is abundantly clear after years of research,eye witness testimony is more often then not worthless,and when you get the "eye witness"testimony from a career criminal...
That is not an idle speculation on my part,but an established fact,which once again we will explore further at a later date.
This is called by me a debate,and in any debate there are two sides.I have made my position known,and will be re-enforcing my argument in later publications,but I would love to hear from YOU!
For those who will use the Bible to legitimatizing the death penalty,that old eye for an eye jazz,forgeting the part where the Lord says "vengeance is mine"I suggest this.
When we are tried in a court of law,we are to have a jury of our peers.It is this same jury that in most states it falls to impose or negate the death penalty.I propose this,let those twelve just men and women who judge that a man should die,let them be the instuments of that execution.Give then each a rifle and have them look at the man they are about to kill.If this system were ever in place, I think there would be a very sharp reduction of those who would vote to kill another.
That just my view from outside of those prison walls.

“The bottom line is, an innocent person was put to death.”

That was what the jury forewoman said recently twelve years after Ruben Cantu was executed in Texas. Now, the lone witness to the crime has recanted.
The district attorney who prosecuted Cantu believes he never should have been charged with a capital crime based on the testimony of an eyewitness who identified him only after police officers showed Cantu’s photo for the third time.The trial judge says: “This case, like thousands of other cases in the system across the country, cries for a thorough examination of the process.”

Some of you may remember this piece,but 99% of you are not familiar with it I am sure.It as been sitting in the previous post section,but from the mail I have been receiving asking me about my history,no one was reading it so I think it is time we start all over!

The first time you hear that door slam behind you,when it all comes together and you know you are no longer a freeman,that is the time when you have to be at your finest.
What lies ahead of you,none of the stories or any of the movies featuring prison life could prepare you for.
The first time I was jailed was in 1977,I was a twenty year old expert on everything.
the charge?
MURDER.
The reason I was charged and not another?
Simple,I was responsible it was my actions,and then inaction,that caused that man to die.it was by my hand,and mine alone.
There never was a question of who had done it,there was as it would turn out,seventeen people who viewed the last seconds of that man life,and
I have never before today talked of that incident,and it is not my wish to drag it all up again,my family certainly does not wish me to even be this public,and I am positive that the deceased family wants no more publicity,as not all of it is kind to the victim.I mention this only as reference to my claim of being an expert on prison life.
Perhaps at another time and place I will go into it,but this is not the forum for that type of tale.
It was self defense,I was totally exonerated after an exhausting six week trial.I did however spend eighteen months behind bars awaiting the outcome.
Eighteen months to brood on what I had done,eighteen months of self incrimination's and speculations.Eighteen months of believing that this was to be my life for the next twenty five to life.Eighteen months of meeting the very best of the worst!

If that had been my only time behind bars,it still would have been enough to give me the background needed for this endeavor how ever,it was only the begining.manageded to stay out of trouble (meaning I was never caught and convicted ) for for close to ten years.

I offer no excuses,I do not blame my childhood,I do not blame the creep who( this as NEVER been revealed to a single living person until now!!!) sexually abused me when I was very young teenager( yup-the jokes and stories about boyscout leaders....LOOK OUT JOHN,your day may yet come)

I do not blame the death of my son,nor the death of my wife,I do not blame my addictions,and I certainly do not,like so many do,blame it on sociality.I blame it all on myself.I can honestly say though,I would never had achieved the success I did as a criminal if it were not for my time behind bars!

Rehabilitation,the magic word,the reason you give for the practice of jailing those who have broken your laws.

Rehabilitation:
To restore to good health or useful life, as through therapy and education.
To restore to good condition, operation, or capacity. Thus says a dictionary.

Let's examine it closer:restore.....Therapy and education,remember that word,education,we will be examining just what that means in the prisons you send us to.

I have used the terms you and yours as if I felt outside of the mainstream,as if YOUR laws were not my own,and that is exactly how a con feels after even a short stay behind bars.The word lgets's divided between US and YOU.

WE develop a whole new way at looking at things that those who have not done time can not fully understand.I am not saying this is a good thing,in fact any thing that helps divide society is be definition a harmful event.I will just say one more thing that jail does,it:

CREATES BETTER CRIMINALS!

In 1989 I received a six month sentence for mainly bad cheques,a pretty minor thing,and since it was my first criminal CONVICTION I was placed in a minimum security work camp.

My employment just previous to being jailed( my legal employment,which was mostly a cover for my "illegal" activity) was that of a bouncer/bartender in a rather seedy hotel in the local "red-light zone"So it was no surprise that I meet many of the same people in jail that I had associated with on the street.

There was another "class" if you will of criminal I encountered in that first little stay.The Professionalal"

Yes it was a minimum security facility,but it was also the stopping off point for some rather serious people who where finishing out their terms there as a way of returning them to society after a LONG prison stretch,some as many as fifteen years for such things as bank robbery,kidnapping,manslaughter and drug smuggling.

I had at that time adopted a strategy for survival of recognizing in any situation,just who was on top of the food chain,and then blending in with them.I have always had the ability to be cameleon,to blend and fit into any role I wished to play,and although my crimes that had brought me there were minor,I made the conscience decision to gravitate towards those whose crimes where the most serious.It was a decision that would serve me well over the next fourteen years of my criminal career.

So it is with those credentials,and more in the future,that I bring you this new series,which will deal with related social and moral issues as well as current events.We will be examining things like capitol punishment,injustices of any kind,penalties imposed on criminals.To harsh? to lenient ?Guilty?Innocent?eye witness reports,are they valid?( you will be amazed!)

I will also be doing my best to sway public opinion anytime I feel that there as been a huge miscarriage of justice,or of suspected cover ups,or any other issues that really grabs my attention,and that is where YOU come in.If you know of or suspect that there been a mistake made in the dealing out of justice,let me know,and I will do my best to investigate it.It does not have to be the innocent who was wrongly convicted,I will also be examing the ones where the guilty were freed through some error or procedure.

However,laws must be equal for all,regardless,and for those reason,I oppose the death penalty.It is better to let 1000 free then imprison an innocent man.There have been to many overturned convictions,to many cases of prosecutorial and law enforcement misconduct,to many eye witnesses recanting,to many DNA exonerations,for me to believe that no innocent man as been "executed" We can not ever take the risk of doing it again.For a living example see my story on David Milgaard.

THERE DOING IT TO DAVID AGAIN

Today a court ruled that David Milgaard,a man made Internationally famous by being one of the first of many convicted murderers to be exonerated by the then new science of DNA evidence,must be willing to appear and testify at the public hearing ordered to look into the circumstances that lead to his wrongful conviction.
His refusing to do so would cause him to lose his standing before the community,and also vacate the order that he be allowed publicly funded legal consul.
In other words,he must appear,and testify about his own culpability in getting convicted.
Yes,we put you in jail for 23 years,subjected you to beatings,rapes,stabbings and gunshot wounds,but it's your own fault,and if you would have just had the decency to have been caught in,oh lets say,Texas,we would not be having this debate,we would have executed your ass long before finding out you were innocent.
Huh? what's that,you say talking about it causes mental stress,gee,we can't see why,and further more,why should we pay for your lawyer?it was you who went and got yourself convicted,it had nothing to do with the beatings,intimidations and threats that made to those that bore you false witneses.It not our fault the police hated you,you brought that on your self with your Hippie ways and radical views.
It's your fault evidence was "lost"and alibi witnesses where never revealed to the defense,and who where told they would be jailed themselves if they persisted in telling the truth.
It's not our fault we refused to let the DNA sample be tested for five years,forcing the Supreme Court to finally allow your MOTHER to have a sample taken to the UK for testing.Why should we then believe British scientists? better to wait and see if the great ones to the south agree.

Let me fill in some gaps here for those of you perhaps not familiar with this case.
Lets go back to one of the coldest nights of the year,Jan. 31,1969.The location,about 440 yards (screw metric,I'm to old) from where I am sitting right now.
Gale Miller,a nursing student is found frozen in the snow,her clothing ripped and torn,her lifeless body almost covered by the drifting snow..She had been brutally raped and beaten before finally being fatally wounded by stab wounds, from a large kitchen butcher knife.
Saskatoon did not then have the honour of being the Murder Capital of Canada,so this horrendous crime raised an outcry of rage,it had to be solved,and solved now!
Now add in a carefree,and perhaps a little to full of bravado seventeen year old "hippie drifter"who the police already suspect in a few "B&E's( so they claimed) and you have the perfect patsy to "solve" this horrendous act,one that the citizens of this small prairie city would not tolerant.and did he not "confess"to his friends?
It was said that in a drunken moment he had made stabbing motions into a pillow,saying "yeah I did it,you had better watch out for me,I'm dangerous" or words to that effect.I may be getting on,but I remember telling some pretty good ones to impress the others when I was a hormonal teen-ager,including taking credit for things I really had no involvement in,but said I was to be "cool"
How about you?ever say something to make someone think you were a tough guy? come on,be honest,and was there a person of opposite sex there? huuum??
To summarize,the cops heard about this "confession",hauled in his "friends" and after 36 hours,had their statements.
Almost immediately after his conviction,witnesses came forward that would clear David if they had testified at trial,and the witnesses that caused the whole mess started recanting,telling of the abuse and threats that caused them to testify in the first place.
I will not go into all the details,they are easily obtained,I recommend this web site but needless to say,David Milgaard,after a trial that as been described as a circus,with the police and prosecutors playing the parts of clowns,was convicted of Murder,and spent 23 years in various prisons across the country.He was offered parole repeataly,all he had to do was "show remorse and take responsibility for his actions.What sort of man does it take to remain firm,and even when it means getting out if you confess,you stands pat and proud,I AM NOT GUILTY! a better man then me!
I once" confessed"to 1o counts of fraud I had not committed,in order to save myself 60 days.He suffered another eight years from the time he was eligible for parole and from when he was finally freed.They tired,but they did not ever break his spirit,and that still ranks in some minds I believe.They are trying all over again to break him.
He is under care of mental health workers,and as been told that the stress of testifying is against his best interests.
Perhaps one of the crulest twists to this story is the fact that the man later convicted of the murder of Ms Miller,Gary Fisher,served time right along side David for years.He served an extended term for vilonet rapes,and if he had been man enough to clear David,he himself might now be free on parole instead of starting his 25 to life.He was convicted of raping women in Sasatoon right at the time of Gail's murder,and the defense then pointed to him,but NO follow up investigating was done.They had their man.

I had the good(? )fortune to get to know David briefly,when he was being held at the provincial correctional during one of his appeals,where I was also a guest,and I think that it is that personal knowledge that as drove me to finally get at this keyboard again.I promise my silence is over!

They now want to put David on the witness stand and cross examine him,trying to save their asses by making him look guilty all over again.
Like all stories,there are two sides,and the Crowns contention is that they have the rights the same as anyone else to face their accusers,or in this case,Mr Milgaard.Mr.Milgaard called for a Public Enquiry,therefore he should be held accountable.
It is MY contentsion,that it was not Mr.Milgaard who ordered this public enquiry (13 years after freeing him) it was the People of this great Province and Country.It is US the CITIZENS that are accusing you of incompetence at the best,criminal neglect and evidence tampering at the worst.It is not up to Mr.Milgaard to prove himself again,it is time for you,Mr.Crown to stand up and accept responsibility for the wrong your incompetence and I say illegal handling of the case.
David as been through Hell already,and claims that even thinking about reliving those horrible days by having to testify,leaves him shaken and physically ill.He as been(and who amongst us would not have) diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome,and is undergoing therapy on a regular basis.His return to society as not always been smooth,23 years behind bars does little in teaching you how to fit and function in "normal society",but I will not now,or ever,bring up mud.Hang tough Davy!
His only hope now of avoiding the risk of re-arrest for contempt for refusing to testify,lays in the hands of Judge Edward MacCallum,who as finally agreed to hear from mental health experts before making a final decision.He as given the defense until Nov 8th to make available all reports,a little over two weeks to prepare 13 years of medical evidence,or to have Mr Milgaard before him. Gee thanks Judge!

The following story illustrates the absolute worst in human behavior, when those who we have come to rely on to "serve and protect"become fear crazed animals,and desert not only their posts,but their humanity.
When I first read this,I thought,oh that's just some exaggeration dreamed up by some left wing liberals to spread their propaganda.,and I refused to believe. It was only after careful investigation(usually by more qualified then me) and monitoring of D.O.C. web sites,that I regretfully conclude,not only is this story true,but it is just one of countless acts of cruelty perpetrated by those in the highest position of trust:

Officers Deserted a Jail Building, Leaving Inmates Locked in Cells (New York, September 22, 2005)—
As Hurricane Katrina began pounding New Orleans, the sheriff's department abandoned hundreds of inmates imprisoned in the city’s jail, Human Rights Watch said today. Inmates in Templeman III, one of several buildings in the Orleans Parish Prison compound, reported that as of Monday, August 29, there were no correctional officers in the building, which held more than 600 inmates. These inmates, including some who were locked in ground-floor cells, were not evacuated until Thursday, September 1, four days after flood waters in the jail had reached chest-level. “Of all the nightmares during Hurricane Katrina, this must be one of the worst,” said Corinne Carey, researcher from Human Rights Watch. “Prisoners were abandoned in their cells without food or water for days as floodwaters rose toward the ceiling.” Human Rights Watch called on the U.S. Department of Justice to conduct an investigation into the conduct of the Orleans Sheriff's Department, which runs the jail, and to establish the fate of the prisoners who had been locked in the jail. The Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections, which oversaw the evacuation, and the Orleans Sheriff’s Department should account for the 517 inmates who are missing from list of people evacuated from the jail. Carey spent five days in Louisiana, conducting dozens of interviews with inmates evacuated from Orleans Parish Prison, correctional officers, state officials, lawyers and their investigators who had interviewed more than 1,000 inmates evacuated from the prison.
The sheriff of Orleans Parish, Marlin N. Gusman, did not call for help in evacuating the prison until midnight on Monday, August 29, a state Department of Corrections and Public Safety spokeswoman told Human Rights Watch. Other parish prisons, she said, had called for help on the previous Saturday and Sunday. The evacuation of Orleans Parish Prison was not completed until Friday, September 2. According to officers who worked at two of the jail buildings, Templeman 1 and 2, they began to evacuate prisoners from those buildings on Tuesday, August 30, when the floodwaters reached chest level inside. These prisoners were taken by boat to the Broad Street overpass bridge, and ultimately transported to correctional facilities outside New Orleans. But at Templeman III, which housed about 600 inmates, there was no prison staff to help the prisoners. Inmates interviewed by Human Rights Watch varied about when they last remember seeing guards at the facility, but they all insisted that there were no correctional officers in the facility on Monday, August 29. A spokeswoman for the Orleans parish sheriff’s department told Human Rights Watch she did not know whether the officers at Templeman III had left the building before the evacuation.
According to inmates interviewed by Human Rights Watch, they had no food or water from the inmate’s last meal over the weekend of August 27-28 until they were evacuated on Thursday, September 1. By Monday, August 29, the generators had died, leaving them without lights and sealed in without air circulation. The toilets backed up, creating an unbearable stench. “They left us to die there,” Dan Bright, an Orleans Parish Prison inmate told Human Rights Watch at Rapides Parish Prison, where he was sent after the evacuation. As the water began rising on the first floor, prisoners became anxious and then desperate. Some of the inmates were able to force open their cell doors, helped by inmates held in the common area. All of them, however, remained trapped in the locked facility. “The water started rising, it was getting to here,” said Earrand Kelly, an inmate from Templeman III, as he pointed at his neck. “We was calling down to the guys in the cells under us, talking to them every couple of minutes. They were crying, they were scared. The one that I was cool with, he was saying ‘I'm scared. I feel like I'm about to drown.' He was crying.” Some inmates from Templeman III have said they saw bodies floating in the floodwaters as they were evacuated from the prison. A number of inmates told Human Rights Watch that they were not able to get everyone out from their cells. Inmates broke jail windows to let air in. They also set fire to blankets and shirts and hung them out of the windows to let people know they were still in the facility. Apparently at least a dozen inmates jumped out of the windows. ”We started to see people in T3 hangin' shirts on fire out the windows,” Brooke Moss, an Orleans Parish Prison officer told Human Rights Watch. “They were wavin' em. Then we saw them jumping out of the windows . . . Later on, we saw a sign, I think somebody wrote `help' on it.” As of yesterday, signs reading “Help Us,” and “One Man Down,” could still be seen hanging from a window in the third floor of Templeman III. Several corrections officers told Human Rights Watch there was no evacuation plan for the prison, even though the facility had been evacuated during floods in the 1990s. “It was complete chaos,” said a corrections officer with more than 30 years of service at Orleans Parish Prison. When asked what he thought happened to the inmates in Templeman III, he shook his head and said: “Ain't no tellin’ what happened to those people.” “At best, the inmates were left to fend for themselves,” said Carey. “At worst, some may have died.” Human Rights Watch was not able to speak directly with Orleans Parish Sheriff Marlin N. Gussman or the ranking official in charge of Templeman III. A spokeswoman for the sheriff’s department told Human Rights Watch that search-and-rescue teams had gone to the prison and she insisted that “nobody drowned, nobody was left behind.” Human Rights Watch compared an official list of all inmates held at Orleans Parish Prison immediately prior to the hurricane with the most recent list of the evacuated inmates compiled by the state Department of Corrections and Public Safety (which was entitled, “All Offenders Evacuated”). However, the list did not include 517 inmates from the jail, including 130 from Templeman III. Many of the men held at jail had been arrested for offenses like criminal trespass, public drunkenness or disorderly conduct. Many had not even been brought before a judge and charged, much less been convicted.

A BETTER CLASS OF CRIMINAL

The one thing I gained that first little stint in the minimum security correctional was a line of credit that I would never have achieved without it.Oh.I don't mean that I could now walk into a bank and get their best rate,or any rate for that matter.When you have just been convicted of thirty nine counts of embezzlement and fraud,the only thing a bank wants from you is for you to leave the premises!

No,I walked out of that prison a man without a home,without any money(I do not count $19.56 as money)there was no such thing as any counselling or any other form of assistance.You had a home,possilbly a job and family support group when you came in,but for many,when they are released it is into the streets to make or break,so is it any wonder the re-offense rate is so high?
What the statistic fail to show,is just how high that rate it really is,simply because there are a high percent who simply to do not get caught,at least not in the short term.
CRIME DOES NOT PAY!!
If that is what makes you feel good,go ahead and believe it,certainly for a lot of so called criminals ,it does not.
There never as been,and never will be much profit in spousal abuse,disorderly conduct and mischief charges,nor probation and parole violations.
The last time I looked,the pay rate for common or even aggravated assault is not that great.
Possession of a control substance usually means you have already spent all your cash and are now partying and that usually leads to you getting busted doing something stupid.
Yeah,the prisons are full of people who never made a dime from their crimes,even murders are not paid that well!(I have earned the right to make light of the situation,humour is what kept me sane when I was up on a murder beef)

I on the other hand am almost proud to say that every minute of CONVICTED time I ever spent I was VERY well paid for,and in every case worked out to hundreds of dollars earned for every day behind bars.
What,you think every Drug dealer is caught the first time out?Not the "good" ones,(PLEASE,I AM NOT ABDICATING DEALING DRUGS OR ANY OTHER TYPE OF CRIME!)I am merely examining some of the reasons for our high rate of re-occurring felonies,and hopefully putting forth some suggestion from you as well as me on how we can lower that rate.

I started out by saying that one of the things I gained was a line of credit when I was released from jail.That was due totally on my chameleon abilities I talked about earlier,and the habit of the correctional system of placing"heavies" into the "light" population at the ends of their long terms.
While I was in on light crimes,I knew how to talk the talk,and if need be walk the walk.Having a murder charge behind me especially one I "beat"gave me great references.Always on the look out to take the easy street,I quickly adapted myself into a "heavy"at least in the minds of most of the "lights".

So,there I was,out on the street,broke,homeless absolutely no family support( that I would seek out,that is another long story best told else where the CONTINUING ADVENTURES will give you some in-sight)and absolutly no clue what to do.I knew about things like the Salvation Army,but since I was pissed off at God at the time,I would not turn to them,or any other organization that would help me.
I was,at that time in great physical shape,and had good work skills to fall back on,but for the moment I was stuck.I was also a bit"habitualized" a condition often found in those leaving the Armed Forces or any other place where the structure is in place for you.You now when and where you eat,you know when and where you sleep,shower,work,every thing is decided for you.
I found myself doing what I always did back then when finding myself in a difficult situation,I drank!
So how long can nineteen dollars and change keep you drunk? about three days and four new girlfriends!( I had lucked out,I had been released the same time of month as when our government here in Canada dishes out a couple hundred bucks for each child under the age of eighteen.A welfare handout you ask?No,it's "universal"in the words of our illustrious leaders,meaning each and every child qualifies regardless of the income of the parents.
I regrees,and I am to lazy to edit so will stumble on.
There I was,in a bar,my arms around not one but two ladies I was doing my best to impress,the money,mine as well as theirs,all but gone.What to do?
Using one of the last quarters( 25 cent coin) in the pay phone,I called upon one of those "heavies"I had meet and hung with while in that minimum security prison.
Within an hour I was $3500.00 in debt but on my way to becoming one of the towns most successful and sought out weed dealers around.I soon established the reputation of always:
a)of always"having"and
b)always being avaiable,and
c)most important of all,the supplier of the highest quaility found either side of the Rockies.
Perhaps at another time I will regal you with stories of my successful drug dealing career but I feel that is a story best left for the adventureman to tell in an upcoming episode of the CONTINUING ADVENTURES!
What I have done here is hopefully lay the ground work for much more in-depth look at re-offending and what can be done to lessen it,as well as draw comments from you kind( or don't be kind,just be constructive) reader so that I may set a direction for this my first attempt at serious on-line journalism.

Born to parents unknown on April the fourth in the c.e.1956 in Regina Saskatchewan Canada he was placed for adoption and was soon adopted by loving Parents John&Sarah Forbes of Semans Saskatchewan,a farming community approximately eighty miles to the north of the Provincial Capitol Regina.He completed all education offered to him at the Margret McClumb High School in the aforementioned Semans.
He Graduated in 1974 and promptly married his High School sweet heart Corrine Murney.After residing and working in Regina for eighteen months he moved his young family(which by this time included a beautiful daughter Terri Dawn)to the logging community of Prince George British Columbia where he was gainfully employed at the Clear Lake Sawmills.
He housed his young family in a house trailer located at the Mill site it's self,some twenty six miles from the main City.
Returning from a Christmas Vacation to his home town,the house trailer was lost to fire,consuming all of the families possessions.
In an effort to earn extra income to put towards a new home,a second job was taken,a job that would have such a disastrous effect on his life for years to come.It was employment in the Hotel and Service Industry that brought him into initial contact with what can only be descried as the Underworld.
Pimps,drug dealers, prostitutes,Johns,Fences,Forger's,pick pockets and scam drifters became,not his enemies,but his closest friends and confidants.
This lead to a life of crime and vilolence,once even leading to a Murder charge.It was a wild,reckless life he lead,until his return to Saskatchewan in 1980,at which time he took employment in various construction endeavors with an eye to taking over the family farm, which he did so in 1983,which he promptly set out to expand and improve, ending in utter failure and bankruptcy in 1987.
Desperate to support his family which had grown with the addition of beautiful daughter Susan Ashley in 1986,he took employment as a sales Manager with Electrolux Canada which he preformed with outstanding success winning several Outstanding Sales and Recruitment Rewards,working with distinction and valour,he was named Manager of the Year for 1987,a year which also saw the birth of his one and only Son, David John, who passed away in his sleep at the horribly young age of twelve weeks, suffering from SID syndrome.He was dismissed from his position some six weeks later, having fallen under the spell of Alcoholism and self destructive behavior.His actions over the next almost two decades can only be called erratic,in and out of relationships,another "marriage that eneded by the death of his true love,years in PRISON and in and out of ORGANIZED CRIME,and finally to out of control DRUG USE,leading to his death from a combination of Asthma and Morphine in July of 2004.
HIS DEATH?
Like Samuel Clements and Oscar Wilde,the news of my death is a little premature!

As I lay unconscious on the floor,my respiration and heart beat both UNDETECTABLE,and I can only imagine,my brain wave activity nearing zero,I was unable to hear the frantic pounding on the door,and the shouts of "OPEN UP!CITY POLICE! WE HAVE A WARRANT!"

From that hospital bed( which,upon when I checked my self out,I was arrested!still in my hospital gown!) to a treatment program seemed the natural step o take.
Today I rely on the Methadone Recovery Program,without it,I do not think I would have made it.I would be perfectly willing to go threw the withdrawls again,but the Cronic pain I life with ensure I will always need pain medication to function.
As Methadone was devoloped by the Germans during WWII as a pain killer( one in which the mental facualties were left uinchanged) it is the natural solution for me.
Methadone is not the tratment for all,but for myself,it is the perfect answer.
Which is why,when I felt the need for a support group,and not being a fan of any I had seen or heard 0f,I started MY OWN! with over thirty members in (at last count) seven (7) countries.
I call my group saved by Methadone,but do not let the name fool you,it is open to any one with addiction issues,regardless of the substance or treatment program they may be under.I invite you to join SAVEDBYMETHADONE
